People from Goa are known as 'Goans or Goanese'. This identity is enough to tell the difference especially in their lifestyle. The 450 years' rule of the Portuguese has added a new dimension by introducing their religion, belief, customs, attire, festivals, education, literature, modes of entertainment, and behaviour. A very important part of the life of an average Goan is a "Siesta". This is basically an afternoon break when Goans retire back to their houses, shut down shops and take a break. This siesta usually takes place in the afternoon during 1-4 pm. This is the hottest part of the day and the people of Goa usually stay indoors to escape the heat of the scorching sun. They are dedicated workers who take their jobs seriously and actually enjoy doing them. |
